At least four injured after a 13-story building collapsed in Alexandria, northern Egypt

At least four people have been slightly injured after the collapse of a thirteen-story building on Monday in the El Montazá district, located in the city of Alexandria, in northern Egypt.

According to a statement from the governor of Alexandria, Mohamed el Sherif, the rescue teams are already at the scene in search of possible victims who have been trapped under the rubble.

For her part, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Amira Tahio, has reported that the four injured people were not inside the building, but were walking around the area, reported the newspaper ‘Al Ahram’.

The attorney general, Hamada el Sawy, has ordered the launch of an investigation to clarify the causes of the collapse. Employees of the Prosecutor’s Office are already at the scene of the events, cordoning off the area.
