June 26 () –

The UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, has stated that the British government considers the revolt by the mercenaries of the Wagner Group an “internal matter” of Russia, although he has indicated that the events of this weekend represent a “challenge unprecedented” to the authority of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Prigozhin’s rebellion is an unprecedented challenge to the authority of President Putin, and it is clear that cracks are emerging in Russian support for the war,” he said in a statement read to the House of Commons.

Likewise, Cleverly has pointed out that Prigozhin, whom he has described as “one of Putin’s henchmen”, has exposed “the lies of the Russian government”. “He cannot justify this war, not even within his leadership”, he has sentenced, as the British channel Sky News has collected.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, has assured this Monday that the revolt of the mercenaries of the Wagner Group is a sign that the war in Ukraine is “cracking” power in Russia.

In the same way, the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, has reiterated that President Putin made a “strategic mistake” with the invasion of Ukraine, in his first statements after the revolt of the mercenaries.
