June 24 () –
The Turkish authorities have reported the “neutralization” in northern Syria of Abdurrahman Chadirci, a member of the Executive Council of the Confederation of the Peoples of Kurdistan (KCK) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) who also appears in the Interpol’s red list of most wanted persons.
Sources from the Turkish security forces quoted by the Turkish news agency Anatolia have explained that Chadirci, alias ‘Assad Farashin’ or ‘Assad Europa’, was “neutralized” in the town of Al Qamishli, in the Syrian province of Hasaka. The term “neutralized” used by the Turkish Armed Forces usually refers to deceased persons.
The source has indicated that the members of the Executive Council of the PKK avoided being together in the same place at the same time for security reasons, so they are spread over different regions of Iraq, Syria and Europe. They only met to discuss crucial issues.
Chadirci had been part of the KCK since the foundation of the organization and was active in Europe between 1997 and 1999 and in the Kandil region in 2000. He was later a delegate of the organization in Moscow between 2008 and 2010 and was a member of the Executive Council of the PKK since 2018.
On the other hand, the Kurdish-Iraqi Rudaw television has reported that Turkish combat planes have bombarded Mount Metina, in the Iraqi province of Duhok, for hours this Saturday, with no information of personal injuries for the moment.
Turkey has carried out numerous ground operations and bombardments in recent years against the YPG (Kurdish People’s Protection Units) for their ties to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
