A Palestinian died early this Saturday from shots fired by Israeli security forces after opening fire with an M-16 rifle against an Israeli military checkpoint in Qalandia, north of Jerusalem, in the West Bank, according to the Israeli version.
An agent and another man have been slightly injured by the attacker’s shots in what the security forces have classified as a terrorist attack. The suspect arrived at the control on foot armed with the rifle.
However, Palestinian media have reported that the deceased, a 17-year-old teenager identified as Ishaq Hamdi Ajluni, bled to death after hours without emergency services being allowed to assist him, according to eyewitnesses quoted by the Palestinian news agency WAFA. .
Ajluni was a resident of the Kufr Aqab neighborhood in East Jerusalem, inside the separation wall that separates East Jerusalem from the rest of the West Bank. With this, there are already 179 Palestinians killed so far this year in actions of the Israeli forces.
The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the armed wing of the Islamist group Hamas, has claimed responsibility for the attack, reports the Israeli daily Yedioth Aharonoth.
This Saturday the death of another Palestinian was also reported, Tariq Musa Jalil Idris, 39, killed by a shot to the abdomen that he received early on Friday in Nablus, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Also this Saturday it has been reported that a 5-year-old Palestinian boy has lost an eye from the impact of a rubber-covered metal ball thrown by Israeli troops in Bazaria, near Nablus. The boy was inside his father’s vehicle when he was hit by the projectile.
