The United States is “monitoring the situation” in Russia

June 24 () –

The governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, has urged the residents of this area this Saturday to remain “calm” and “not leave home unless necessary.”

“The current situation requires the maximum concentration of all forces to maintain order. The law enforcement agencies are doing everything necessary to ensure the safety of the residents of the region. I ask everyone to remain calm and do not leave home unnecessarily”, Golubev has written in his Telegram account.

These statements came a few hours after Wagner’s leader, Yevgeni Prigozhin, announced that his group had crossed the Russian border and was “entering” Rostov.

“Now we are entering Rostov. The divisions of the Ministry of Defense, or rather, the recruits, who were thrown to block our path, stepped aside,” Prigozhin has published in an audio on his Telegram account collected by the portal Meduza news outlet, to which he added that “if anyone stands in our way, we will destroy them all.”

Russian military have already been deployed in Rostov and streets and highways have been blocked to prevent the Wagner group from entering the city, according to the TASS news agency.

For its part, in Moscow the security of “the most important facilities, state authorities and transport infrastructure facilities” is being strengthened, law enforcement sources have informed TASS.
