In the framework of the summit held in Paris, The French government will finance, through donations, part of the agrarian reform in Colombia in support of the Total Peace policy. This was expressed by the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, to the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro.

“France would contribute to the agrarian reform. That’s the deal. They (the French government) accept my proposal, for the financing of the agrarian reform, as the main fact of cooperation with Colombia. Basically they are donation resources, we are not talking about credits”, highlighted the Head of State.

Along the same lines, Petro highlighted that “agrarian reform -essential for equity and social justice in the fields- cannot be done from international credit but through a donor fund, since this is the central axis of peace, in the rural worldhe”.

Presidents Petro and Macron held a bilateral meeting in which they reviewed the agenda and Petro delved into his proposal to put in place a global Marshall Plan to address the climate crisiswhich would imply a change in the international financial system.

“These proposals are being discussed by the Germans, the French, we already talked about it with (US President Joe) Biden and today, Those who oppose them are the central banks, the US Fed. Therefore, it is necessary to deepen the discussion”Petro asserted.
“Politics is about putting pressure on decision making. The COP (summit meeting) in Dubai will be the stage to make these proposals come true. And Macron agrees on these issues”, pointed out the Colombian president.
