Qualcomm launches new satellite connectivity solutions for IoT

We have already seen how terminals like the iPhone have satellite connectivity, something that seems to be the next big thing to find in flagships. However, Qualcomm has an eye on IoT solutions, which could also sometimes benefit from satellite connectivity.

That is why they have launched two modems, being one of them Qualcomm 212Sa modem that allows stationary IoT devices to connect to satellite networks to better connectivity away from populated areas, where we might even need solar power.

For this reason, we have extremely low consumption, a design focused on cost efficiency that allows you to have only what is necessary to carry out satellite communications, and compatibility with the Qualcomm QCM4490, a processor with two-way messaging and one-way file sending capabilities.

On the other hand, we have the Qualcomm 9205S, a modem designed for IoT devices on the move that can connect to satellite and cellular networks for virtually seamless coverage, in addition to having GNSS to provide location data. Both chips stick to the 3GPP Release 17 standards for satellite communications, making it easy to work through them.
