One of Gaddafi’s sons hospitalized after going on hunger strike over his detention in Lebanon

June 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Hannibal Gaddafi, one of the sons of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been hospitalized in Lebanon, two weeks after he went on hunger strike to protest his detention in Lebanon, where he has been imprisoned since 2015.

According to sources consulted by the Al Arabiya television network, the detainee, who was admitted during the day on Wednesday, suffers from severe spinal infections and hypotension.

Gaddafi, who is in a stable condition, remained in the hospital for several hours, where he was monitored by doctors, but a doctor is currently monitoring his treatment inside his cell.

The arrested man continues with his hunger strike and only drinks water to take medicine, indicates the aforementioned television channel, which adds that the Lebanese authorities have not ruled on the incident.

Gaddafi’s lawyer, Paul Romanos, explained that he began his strike “because he considers himself innocent of the charges against them and that he is a political prisoner,” according to the Libyan newspaper ‘L’Orient-Le Jour’.

Gaddafi, known for the abuse of a waitress in a hotel in Geneva, was arrested in 2015 in Syria, after being kidnapped by Syrian militants, and taken to Lebanon for his alleged responsibility in the disappearance in 1978 of the then leader of the Lebanese Shiites, the imam Musa Sadr.
