A court extends four months the preventive detention of former Prime Minister Ali Larayed

The Tunisian Salvation Front organized a march through the streets of the capital this Sunday to demand the release of opposition political prisoners, such as former Prime Minister Ali Larayed, who this past Saturday saw his current extension extended by four months. preventive detention for alleged links to terrorism.
The march has crossed the Habib Bourguiba avenue between shouts of “Freedom for the detainees” with the photos of the political opponents imprisoned in April in the framework of the so-called case of conspiracy against the security of the State, such as the leader of the Islamist Ennhada, Rachid Ghanuchi and three other opposition leaders, Belgacem Hassen, Mohamed Cheniba and Mohamed Gumani.
The protest, which has taken place without incident, has been led by prominent opponents such as the former Minister of Regional Development Ahmed Neyib Chebbi, the former Minister for Human Rights Samir Dilou, Abdelatif Mekki, Riad Chaïbi or Ajmi Lourimi, as well as relatives of political prisoners. , reports the Tunisian news portal Business News.
As regards Larayed, the extension of his detention has been confirmed by sources from the Mosaique FM radio station, after the anti-terrorist magistracy initially sentenced the former prime minister and also a senior member of the Ennahda Islamist party to six months in prison in December. preventive detention in the framework of a case for the alleged sending of jihadists to Syria.
This ruling contemplated the possibility of two extensions, of four months each, the first of which was decided this past Saturday.
