The mystery and action game Master Detective Archives: Rain Code shows its mechanics with a trailer

The publisher Spike Chunsoft has shown a trailer for Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, the new project by Kazutaka Kodaka, creator of Danganronpa, where the mechanics of this mystery and action game with a sinister and fantastic touch are detailed. The release of Master Detective Archives: Rain Code for Nintendo Switch is scheduled for June 30 in physical format, with standard and special edition, and digital format through the eShop.

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code stars Yuma Kokohead, an amnesiac detective for the World Detective Organization (WDO). Yuma knows nothing of his past, but the documents he has tell him that he must go to Kanai, a city shrouded in permanent rain that is under the control of the Amaterasu Corporation. The detective apprentice travels accompanied by Shinigami, a deity of death that does not leave his side and helps him solve mysteries. Shinigami normally appears in spirit form and only Yuma can see her.

After accepting a case, Yuma and the Shinigami will begin the investigation. The first steps are to go to the crime scene to look for anything suspicious, including clues and evidence, and question witnesses. To advance in the investigations, you can use the Forensic Talent, a special power that all members of the World Detective Organization have. Each detective has a different supernatural ability, including Cloak to mimic someone’s voice and appearance, Hearing to detect heartbeats and whispers, and Retrocognition to reconstruct a crime scene.

When all the clues have been gathered, the Mysterious Labyrinth will appear, a dimension that connects the crime scene with the truth and where the mysteries of the real-world case materialize and endanger Yuma. In the Mysterious Labyrinth you must fight against the mysterious Ghosts to identify the inconsistencies and discover the truth.
