Argentina and the United Arab Emirates seek to strengthen economic cooperation

The Foreign Minister of Argentina, Santiago Cafiero, received the Minister of State for International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, Reem Al Hashimy, together with a prominent business delegation.

The objective of the meeting was to strengthen bilateral ties and establish new exchange channels between both countries.

Within the framework of this visit, Cafiero and Reem Al Hashimy led the opening of the “Argentina – United Arab Emirates Business Meeting”, which took place in the Libertador Room of the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

Emirati companies and sovereign wealth funds participated in this event together with their Argentine counterparts, holding approximately 45 business meetings.

The Argentine Foreign Minister stated during the meeting: “During Expo Dubai 2020 and the II Meeting of the Mixed Commission in 2022, I met with the Minister in the UAE and since then we have launched a series of cooperation and exchange instruments.”

“We have made progress in an agenda that covers not only the commercial field, but also education, technical and scientific-technological cooperation. All of this contributes both to trade relations and to the links between our nations.”

Cafiero added that “together with our work teams, we have designed a roadmap that was presented in April of this year. This business forum is part of that plan. Here, companies from both countries share a common vision.”

“Argentina has great potential and the businessmen present represent two fundamental axes in today’s world: the need for food and energy. It is a global challenge of the present and the future, and finding strategic partners is fundamental in this meeting because we know that we have a lot to do”.

For her part, Minister Reem Al Hashimy highlighted: “We have great expectations of following up on the conversations we held within the framework of Expo Dubai 2020, which opened many doors. I recognize your work and that of your team in the bilateral exchange that we have had. We believe that we are good for each other and we must take more steps to consolidate this relationship.”

Entities such as the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Mubadala Investment Company, Masdar Clean Energy, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), DP World and Elite Agro, on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, participated in the business event.

On behalf of Argentina, companies such as Consultatio, CAEM (mining), Riva, TGS, Pampa Energía, YPF Nuevas Energías, YPF Luz, Pan American Energy, among others, were present.
