The authorities of Syria and Saudi Arabia have agreed on Tuesday to reactivate their cooperation at an economic level and restart their commercial activities, within the framework of the diplomatic rapprochement between the two countries after more than a decade of rupture of their relations due to the war unleashed in 2011. The announcement was made after a meeting between the president of the Federation of Chambers of Saudi Arabia, Hasan bin Muyib al Huaizi, and the president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Syria, Mohamad Abu al Huda al Laham, on the margins of a business conference in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Thus, the parties have agreed to reopen economic cooperation and launch investment activities, within the framework of the reintegration of Damascus into the region after more than a decade of isolation, as reported by the Saudi state news agency, SPA. .
Both sides have stressed the need to exchange visits by trade delegations and increase investment opportunities, while the Syrian delegation has expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s position on Damascus, the Syrian state news agency reported, FURY.
Syria and Saudi Arabia began bilateral talks in March to resume their consular services at the beginning of the final stage of a normalization of relations in line with the agreement signed that month between Riyadh and Tehran to restore their ties, broken in 2016.
