The 2023 salary adjustment for public servants in Colombia was made official, ratifying the agreements established between the Government and the centrals and union federations in this sector.
In the case of teachers in the country, the increase in salaries and benefits for teachers was set at 14.62%retroactive as of January 1, 2023.

According to the Ministry of Education, this increase applies to:
– Public teaching and administrative employees of State or Official Universities.
– Public teaching employees of the National Pedagogical Institute.
– Public servants teachers and teaching directors at the service of the State at the levels – of preschool, basic and secondary.
– Public servants, ethno-educators, teachers, and teacher directors who attend to the indigenous population in indigenous territories, at the preschool, basic, and secondary levels.
– Public teaching employees of colleges, technological institutions, university institutions or technological schools and professional technical institutions of the national order.
Taking that into account, this is how the remunerations were:
Teachers of public institutions
He decree 0889 establishes how the basic monthly allowance will be, full-time, for public employee teaching staff of Higher Education Institutions.
These would be the salaries, depending on the category:
– Assistant Professor: $3,244,800.
– Assistant teacher: $3,792,494.
– Associate professor: $4,080,361.
– Associate Professor: $4,393,800.

For its part, the document indicates that the monthly remuneration, full-time, for public servant teachers without a university or professional degree or experts will be $2,312,313.

In relation to the chair professors linked to these institutions, the remuneration for each hour of class taught was established as follows:
– Equivalent to Full Professor with a Postgraduate degree at the Master’s or Doctorate level: $38,188.
– Equivalent to Associate Professor with a postgraduate degree at the Master’s or Doctorate level: $35,425.
– Equivalent to an assistant professor with a Graduate degree at the Master’s or – Doctoral level: $32,875.
– Equivalent to an assistant professor with a postgraduate degree at the specialization level: $26,998.
– With university or professional degree: $21,384.
– No university or professional or expert degree: $14,437.
The document also determines how the payment of travel expenses will be, the payment for part-time teachers and the limits of remuneration.
Teachers of the National Pedagogical Institute
He decree 0886 of 2023 It establishes that the basic monthly allowances for these public employees will be indicated for the different grades of the National Teaching Scale established by the Government for this year. These must correspond to jobs with dedication of 40 hours per week and that are carried out in the personnel plant.
In the case of teachers who work 48 hours a week, the remuneration will correspond to their respective grade in the ladder, plus 20% of said allowance.

Teachers of preschool, basic and secondary education
The basic monthly allowance for these public servants is established in decree 0887 of 2023.
The regulations establish the remuneration for the different grades and levels of the national teaching ladder corresponding to the jobs of teachers and teaching directors at the service of the State.
For example, a higher normalist or education technologist will earn the following per month, according to their salary level:
– Grade A: $2,327,294.
– Grade B: $2,966,646.
– Grade C: $3,824,222.
– Grade D: $4,740,798.

The articles also establish how the assignments will be for graduates or non-graduate professionals (with or without specialization, with a master’s degree and a doctorate), as well as the salary regime for teaching jobs and public teaching managers.
In the case of the salary of non-classified educators, the basic allowance was established for teachers with a bachelor’s degree in $1,277,940professional technician or technologist in $1,691,684 and university professional in $2,067,092.
