Confirmed: children rescued in the jungle will be transferred to Bogotá

The four brothers who had disappeared on May 1 in the Amazon they will be transported to Bogotá, as confirmed by the authorities.

The children have been the protagonists of a long search, after an aircraft in which they were traveling with their mother suffered a mishap and crashed.

The The plane of the incident was a Cessna 206 type, registration HK 2803, covered the Araracuara – San José del Guaviare route, in southern Colombia. In it were the 4 minors with their mother and two other adults (counting the pilot).

When the incident was confirmed, the ‘Operation Hope’ (as the search was called) and more than 120 soldiers from the Special Forces Command of the Military Forces and 73 indigenous people participated in it.

After two weeks of starting the search, they found the lifeless bodies Hernando Murcia Morales, the pilot; Herman Mendoza Hernández, the director of the Yetara indigenous professional foundation, and Magdalena Mucutuy Valencia, mother of the four minors.

Brothers they had been missing for 40 days and on June 9 the Military Forces confirmed that they found them all alive after to travel more than two thousand kilometers.

The next step was to transfer them to San José del Guaviare to be treated by doctors.

Then, the transfer to Bogotá was confirmed. At around 12:00 am, four ambulances were waiting at the Catam military base to take them to the Military Hospital.

Around 12:15 am, a Casa-295 plane from the Military Forces landed with the children. This was conditioned to provide timely care, during the journey they were accompanied by doctors and specialists.

At the Base, the staff of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) to guarantee the rights and accompany minors.

Finally, the brothers accompanied by their father, who participated in the search work, went to the ambulances.

Brigadier General Pedro Sánchez Suárez, Commander of the Colombian Joint Command of Special Operations (CCOES) told the media present at the scene: “The meeting was a miracle. I think that everything can be achieved when you believe, when we work together we can go far, we did everything necessary, aircraft dropped flyers and supplies from the sky, but finally everything happened on earth, all the evidence was found there“.

On the disappearance of Wilson, the six-month-old Belgian shepherd who was entrusted with the search work in Operation Hope, the general stressed that: “It is not known where he is, the truth is that we did not leave a command behind. We are aware that It is a great challenge to find it, we have decided to propose a strategy to continue the operation, our objective is to find it”.
