The new Western Digital WD Black SN850P is a variant of their WD Black SN850X that gets the official license from Sony to be used on the PlayStation 5. It uses M.2 connectivity with NVMe 1.4 interface via PCI-Express 4.0.
To avoid overheating that can cause thermal throttling and penalize performance, Western Digital has provided it with a metal heatsink already from the factory with a contained thickness that allows it to be used inside the Sony console casing.
The WD Black SN850P will arrive in capacities of 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB and promises performance of up to 6,600 MB/s sequential writing for the higher-capacity models, and 6,300 MB/s for the 1TB model. As for sequential reading, all of them can reach 7,300 MB/s of transfer.
Western Digital guarantees a durability of 600TB written for the 1TB model, 1,200TB for the 2TB model, and double that, 2,400TB written for the larger model, all with a 5-year warranty.
Their prices in Spain are €151.99, €237.99 and €495.99 respectively for the 1, 2 and 4 TB capacity models. They are already available in our country through the Western Digital online store.
