According to the latest rumors, the next processors Intel Meteor Lake for desktops would have been canceled, these are the Intel Meteor Lake-S. In their place will be launched some renewed Intel Raptor Lake which they have nicknamed refreshreferring to an update of the current generation to offer some new features and offer them as new launch. These plans to launch new processors belonging to the current generation seem confirmed by GIGABYTEthat has updated their boards for the upcoming next generation Intel.
Considering that upcoming desktop processors won’t change the socket, this it can only be about these Intel Raptor Lake Refresh. GIGABYTE motherboards with 600 and 700 series chipsets, with LGA1700 socket, have received a firmware update where, among some other novelties, we find support and compatibility with next-generation Intel processors. This update has been added by taking advantage of the new UEFI firmware update that fixes some security issues discovered recently on GIGABYTE motherboards.
These Intel Raptor Lake Refreshes, compatible with current Intel 600 and 700 series chipset motherboards, are expected to include higher clock speeds and add compatibility with new Wi-Fi 7 wireless and 5GbE wired networks. These next renewed Intel will be presented next September.
