Apple introduces the M2 Ultra, consisting of 2 M2 Max with 24-core CPU and unified memory up to 192 GB

It has recently been held Apple WWDC23where we have seen news such as a new Macbook Air 15 inch and the new MacProboth powered by the Apple M2. But the MacPro includes a more powerful version of this Apple Silicon that has also been announced at this event, the Apple M2 Ultra.

This Apple M2 Ultra SoC completes the range of Apple Silicon M2 processors, being the largest and most powerful manufactured by Apple to date. Incorporates 134 billion transistors and is capable of offering a unified memory of up to 192GB, up to 50% more than in the previous generation. It has also been possible to increase the bandwidth of this memory, which now runs at 800 GB/s, and that is double that offered by the Apple M2 Max. This is thanks to UltraFusion technology capable of unify in one only 2 Apple M2 Maxconnecting them with more than 10,000 signals of up to 2.5TB/s.

The CPU and GPU of this new SoC is faster, specifically 20% and 30% more than the previous M1 Ultra, has also achieved Increase Neural Engine speed by up to 40%. Now an engine has been added that achieves greater speed with ProRes and also encodes and decodes H.264 and HEVC. The CPU is made up of 24 coresdivided into 16 high-performance and 8 high-efficiency, the GPU can come with 60 or 76 cores. This set can process video faster, allowing play up to 22 ProRes videos in 8Kbesides supports up to 6 monitors Pro Display XDR.

The arrival of this new Apple M2 Ultra, supposes the end of the transition from Intel processors to Apple Silicon’s own. Now all Apple devices will count with own processorsincluding the latest MacPro including this new Apple M2 Ultra.
