The market for portable screens, perhaps due to its small size, is not advancing at the same pace as that of traditional screens, but more and more manufacturers are betting on it. LG is one of them, and its most recent proposal does not go unnoticed: the South Korean manufacturer has literally put a screen inside a briefcase.
We are talking about StanbyME Go, a product that lg says that it has designed to offer a “multi-entertainment” experience. And, judging by the press images, it seems to be intended to be used, for example, in camping or outdoor activities. We see what this peculiar device with a portable spirit has to offer us.
The briefcase with integrated screen from LG
What many of us do when we need a screen in some of the aforementioned scenarios is turn to tablets. However, if we are really looking for an experience that resembles that of a television and that allows us to transport it comfortably, the LG StanbyME Go can be positioned as a valid alternative.
It is a device with a 27-inch display panel with 1080p resolution that emerges from inside the briefcase. It also allows us to place it in different positions. In landscape mode to use a traditional screen, or also vertically, to consume content in this popular video format. In all cases we can make use of the touch capabilities of the screen to, for example, enjoy games.
On a technical level, we find that the LG StanbyME Go boasts compatibility with Dolby Vision on its screen and Dolby Atmos on its 20 W built-in speakers. As we say, it is a television with all the letters, so it comes with the manufacturer’s WebOS operating system and even an HDMI input for external video sources, wireless connectivity: Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.
When using this portable screen, users will find two possible paths. On the one hand, like the televisions of a lifetime, connected to the current. On the other hand, using the portable mode thanks to its integrated battery. Taking into account its purpose, this may be the most reasonable option, although autonomy, the manufacturer explains, reaches 3 hours.
The new LG StanbyME Go is undoubtedly an interesting and curious type of product, but it is also limited in the number of markets in which it will be available. For now, it can be purchased from this week in South Korea. Its price? 1.17 million won (about 840 euros). At the moment, yes, we do not know if it will reach Europe.
