The Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister, Hanna Malyar, pointed out this Monday that they have started the expected counteroffensive. She has pointed out that the troops have made advances in the Ivanivske and Orikhovo-Vasylivka areas, on the eastern front, although “the Bakhmut direction continues to be the epicenter of hostilities.”
“Today, our troops from the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Troop Group are carrying out offensive actions on the Eastern Front,” Malyar said in a Telegram post.
“Despite the fierce resistance and the attempts of the enemy to maintain the limits and positions, our units advanced in various directions in the course of the fighting,” it indicates. Thus, he points out that the advance in Orykhovo-Vasilivka has been up to 1,600 meters, while in Ivanivske they have achieved up to 700 meters.
“In particular, the Bakhmut direction continues to be the epicenter of hostilities. We are moving there on a fairly wide front. We are successful. We occupy the dominant heights,” the Ukrainian deputy minister said two hours earlier, adding that “the enemy” Russian is on the defensive in the southern zone.
Malyar’s remarks come on the same day the Kremlin says it repelled a major Ukrainian offensive on five key front lines in Donetsk on Sunday, killing 250 Ukrainian soldiers.
