The collaboration framework agreement between the house of studies and the Chilean Desalination Association AG guarantees the support between both institutions in the search for alternative sources of water resources.
USM Communications.- An important agreement between the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María and the Chilean Desalination Association AG, ACADES, was finalized after the collaboration framework agreement was signed, which strengthens the alliance between both institutions with the aim of working on the implementation of activities aimed at the promotion, dissemination, study and exchange of experiences and knowledge regarding desalination and water treatment.
The signing of this agreement will result in the financing of various investigations in favor of a work oriented towards the development of searches for alternative water resources, reinforcing the commitment that both entities have manifested in environmental matters, as well as the constant development of tools and techniques that facilitate access to water sources.
In this regard, the rector Juan Yuz highlighted that “it is a great joy for us as a university to sign this agreement”, also adding that “desalination is one of the great challenges we face as a country today, within the framework of climate change. We have high expectations that this translates into projects and job opportunities for our professors, professors, and researchers.”
For his part, the executive vice president of ACADES, Rafael Palacios, indicated that “we share the enthusiasm of being able to celebrate this contract. We are a fairly new and growing guild, and we want to link up with the academy on different issues.”
The agreement will open the possibility for both institutions to carry out research that allows the development of tools that facilitate the cleaning and purification processes of water resources for the country. In this regard, the executive vice president assured that the first step of this alliance would be to “land and set the guidelines that correspond to work.”
“We have a great mission in terms of scientific research to be able to gather relevant information and make it known to the public. In addition, there are major public policy challenges. It is necessary to train people who can promote this from the field of companies and from academia”, said Palacios.
Also present during the signing, the vice presidents of ACADES, Diana Ewing and Alberto Kresse were satisfied with the agreement and “hopeful” of the achievements that the formalization of this alliance can offer. “We have developed many issues together, not only on desalination, but also on other sanitary aspects,” said Ewing, while Kresse pointed out that “it doesn’t make much sense that as a country we are experiencing shortages or thinking about rationing having technology and resources at hand, and that is why we have to continue investigating. Disclosure is essential in institutions like these ”, she stated.
