() — Elon Musk regained his position as the richest person in the world.
According to a Bloomberg Billionaires count, the Tesla CEO now has a net worth of $192 billion, compared with $187 billion for LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault.
The two centibillionaires, a term used to refer to people with fortunes of more than $100 billion, have been neck-and-neck in the top spot for months.
This week, Arnault’s wealth plummeted after LVMH shares tumbled on Wednesday, according to Bloomberg calculations.
Arnault overtook Musk in December, when his wealth rose from a boom in luxury goods sales that helped boost LVMH’s share price. LVMH, one of the largest conglomerates in the world, houses brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior and Celine.
Musk, for his part, has experienced a meteoric rise up the world’s rich lists in recent years, as his fortune is directly tied to that of electric car maker Tesla. His biggest asset is the company’s shares, of which he owns about 13%, according to Bloomberg.
In addition to Tesla, Musk is also CEO of SpaceX, the space exploration company, and owner of the social network Twitter.
LVMH shares are up 19.7% this year, while Tesla’s are up 65.6% so far in 2023.
