Gascón confirms that he does not resign despite the results of 28M and will continue to lead Podemos Castilla-La Mancha

The regional coordinator of Podemos in Castilla-La Mancha, José Luis García Gascón, has confirmed that he will not present his resignation despite the poor results achieved in the last regional elections on Sunday, ensuring that he will continue to lead the formation in the process which now opens for the generals.

To questions from the media from Manzanares, he pointed out that he is “surprised” by “the amount of positive assessments of the electoral campaign, the work of the legislature and the electoral debate.”

Positive evaluations that have come from “the public, social movements and militants”, and all of them “have asked to get ahead despite the bad results”.

“I have the intact commitment with Castilla-La Mancha and with the left of the region”, has abounded.

Avoid ruling on the national leadership must resign

The regional coordinator of Podemos in Castilla-La Mancha has avoided this morning, up to two times, ruling on the matter of whether the leadership of his party should resign after the electoral failure last Sunday.

Asked specifically about this question and after the still vice president of the Balearic Government and Minister of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes, asked for the resignation of positions such as Pablo Echenique or Ione Belarra, García Gascón has had an impact before participating in the institutional act of the Day of Castilla-La Mancha that the day of this Wednesday has to focus on this celebration.

“Today is Castilla-La Mancha Day and as the regional coordinator of Podemos in this region I owe myself to this day,” he insisted on two questions from the media that were covering the event from Manzanares.

Demand a change in the regional electoral law to “contain” Vox

Another of the messages was addressed to the president-elect of the region, Emiliano García-Page, to whom he asked to reform the Statute of Autonomy and the Electoral Law so that in upcoming electoral appointments the 44,000 votes received by the confluence of left in the region and thus help to “contain” Vox.

He has abounded that the PSOE has been “barely 200 votes away from letting the ultra-right govern”; which is why it is “urgent to recover plurality and justice so that the 44,000 votes of the left in the region form a dam and the PSOE can agree and prevent the extreme right from governing.”

“That is why we urge the reform of the Statute and the electoral law and to recover the blow that Cospedal gave so that the votes for progressive parties add up”, has abounded
