The Amazon series ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ has already announced a second season, and apparently it will come with changes. Some of them are to be expected given the large amount of criticism that the series has received due to its fidelity, understood in a very particular way, to Tolkien’s original. Of all the characters, without a doubt Galadriel has been one of the most criticized.
It has been precisely the actress who gives life to the elf, Morfydd Clark, who has spoken about her character and the evolution that awaits her in unwrapped, a WrapWomen podcast. He says these changes have allowed him to “play with character” as well as approach Galadriel from the perspective of the physical challenges always present in an action series.
Specifically, Morfydd Clark states that in the first season, Galadriel “was going through a kind of mental breakdown and therefore it was like in another world.” What change can we expect from the character in the second year? “Now, despite the darkness, he is reflecting on the world and finding a little more joy in things.”
In this way, we will see a more casual Galadriel, although quite possibly the importance of her mission does not leave her much time for jokes. Clark acknowledges that she is “super excited about the next season”, and it is due to the meeting “in the cast with incredible people like Rory Kinnear or Ciaran Hinds”.
Possibly a Galadriel with a twist in her behavior gives a more casual tone to a series that did not finish retaining its audience, despite the fact that the renewals indicate that Amazon is satisfied with the result. At the moment, the second season points to a series that is aesthetically and thematically continuous with its predecessor, but without a doubt, more than one surprise is in store in the platform’s plans.
