May 29. (EUROPE PRESS) –
At least two people have died this Sunday when a tourist boat capsized on Lake Maggiore, which is located in northern Italy, 88 kilometers north of Milan, due to bad weather.
Search and rescue services have recovered the lifeless bodies of two people, while two more people are missing, after a storm capsized the tourist boat they were on, reports ‘Corriere della Sera’.
There were 23 people on the boat, both Italians and foreigners between the ages of 20 and 50, who had rented the boat to celebrate a birthday party. The relative proximity to the shore has allowed those who first fell into the water to swim until they were rescued.
The president of the Lombardy region, Attilio Fontana, explained that a gust of air caused the accident, where the Coast Guard, rescue services and Lombardy ambulances are located. However, the work has had to be suspended overnight due to the storm, which is making it difficult to search for the missing.
