Iranian authorities have claimed to have dismantled a spy network linked to the intelligence services of a foreign country dedicated to obtaining information from Iranians traveling abroad, including people working in official departments.
The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence has highlighted that the network had been monitoring people “with access to important information in sensitive institutions in the country” and has stressed that the investigations have made it possible to identify “the links and executive agents” of this group.
Thus, he has stressed that the “operators” used the database provided by the members of the espionage network to later “extract information from the objectives”, according to the Iranian news agency Tasnim.
At the moment there are no details about the number of detainees and the intelligence services that are supposed to be behind the plot. The operation comes days after Tehran announced the dismantling of a “terrorist group” with ties to the Israeli Mossad.
