Microsoft announces that its Dev-Boxes in the cloud will be available in July 2023

Following a sample released only to developers in August 2022, Microsoft has finally announced that its Dev-Box workstations in the cloud will be publicly available on an unspecified day of July 2023, so that those developers who require applications and services to program in the cloud will be able to request them.

According to Microsoft, Dev-Boxes are designed to save developers the hours or even days needed to create a specific development environment for certain projects, and being built on the foundation of Microsoft 365, these computers in the cloud can be accessed from any browser and will run the same programs as any Windows computer.

Developers will be able to configure the Dev-Box to their liking, with up to 32vCPUs, 128GB of RAM and 2TB of solid storage, figures that will hardly be a problem no matter how big the project in hand is, and that should provide an experience close to perfection.

Microsoft indicates that more than 9,500 company engineers already use these Dev-Boxes, but does not specify, for example, the price to pay for certain configurations, which will be available with 8, 16 or 32vCPUs, with no apparent intermediate options.
