150 thousand people do creative and cultural activities in Bogotá

According to Multipurpose Survey, for the year 2021 there were more than 150 thousand people working in cultural and creative activities in Bogotá and of all those employed in this sector in the city, 18.5% work in activities related to Cultural Industries and 13% in the area of ​​Arts and Heritage.

And it is that from the Multipurpose Survey (EM) Bogotá 2022 of the Satellite Account of Culture and Creative Economy carried out by the District Planning Secretariat and Dane published its analysis on occupation of the activities of the cultural and creative sector and how the cultural and creative sector is doing in Bogotá.

This survey, which is published every two years, aims to obtain information on the social and economic aspects of those who live in Bogotá and the region. The results obtained serve as input for decision-making on focused and territorialized public policies that improve the quality of life of the population, in this case, of local agents.

The survey also showed that go up It is the town with the most workers in this sector with 29,856 people, which is equivalent to 19.6%. It is followed by the towns of usaquén (12.4%) and Engativa (11.29%).

In these three towns, the activities carried out most by local agents are related to Functional Creations.

It is important to highlight that the activities related to Functional Creations are the ones that They concentrate the largest number of employed people (68%) in the cultural and creative sector.

By 2021, of the total number of people employed in the sector, 36.9% were women while 60.4% were men.

In the towns of Usaquén (45.11%), Teusaquillo (44.06%) and Engativá (43.04%) the largest number of women who exercise cultural activities are concentrated.

38% of the women who work in the cultural and creative sector have income between 2 and 4.9 million pesos.

The activities related to the area of ​​Functional Creations are: manufacture of musical instruments; manufacture of games, toys and puzzles; specialized design activities; editing of computer programs; development activities of computer systems, web portals; advertising.
