Taiwan Vice Foreign Minister Alexander Tah-ray Yui visited the Republic of Paraguay.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) noted that “in order to demonstrate the importance the nation attaches to bilateral friendship, Yui was appointed to head a delegation to the South American ally.”
The vice minister was received by the Paraguayan president, Mario Abdo Benítez. Yui, representing President Tsai Ing-wen, expressed her fraternal greetings to Abdo Benítez, and congratulated the Paraguayan people who successfully completed the presidential elections on April 30.
During the meeting, Abdo Benítez and Yui discussed bilateral relations and agreed that, based on the important results obtained in the last five years, they will continue to consolidate and deepen this strategic alliance that both governments have reached, and will further strengthen ties bilateral trade and investment.

The vice minister took the opportunity to thank the Paraguayan president and foreign minister Julio César Arriola Ramírez for Paraguay’s constant support for the nation’s participation in United Nations system agencies. Likewise, they also spoke about further promoting trade in beef and pork, as well as Paraguayan organic products.
On the other hand, Yui met with President Elect Santiago Peña and Vice President Elect Pedro Alliana, to whom he extended congratulations on behalf of President Tsai. The president-elect of Paraguay spoke with the vice minister about how to promote cooperation and exchanges in various fields for the benefit of both peoples.
Yui’s tour also includes meetings with representatives of productive unions, among others.
