May 20. (Portaltic/EP) –

He 25 percent of Spanish gamers prefer to watch video game games on streaming platforms rather than consume other content, such as series and movies, according to a recent study carried out by PcComponentes.

It is one of the conclusions reached by this ‘eCommerce’ platform in the third edition of this study, ‘X-ray of Gaming in Spain’with which he seeks to know the trends and influence of video games in society.

PcComponentes comments in this report that playing video games continues “an unstoppable growth process in Spain, not only under the traditional video game consumption format, but also as a audiovisual entertainment”.

So much so that even 25 percent of Spanish fans of video games prefer to watch game broadcasts before consuming other types of content on streaming platforms.

This figure increases in the case of players belonging to Generation Z -that is, those born since the mid 90’s until the middle of the following decade-, in which up to 30 percent of users prefer to see this content over film productions and series.

In addition, according to the X-ray of PcComponentes, 18 percent of Spanish ‘gamers’ already prefer to watch other players’ games rather than play themselves, 20 percent in the case of Generation Z.

In a section that studies the main purchasing habits and consumption of video games in Spain, this ‘eCommerce’ platform highlights that ‘online’ commerce is the preferred purchasing channel for 68 percent of Spanish ‘gamers’ and that one in four believes that the opinion of an expert is a fundamental factor when choosing a specific store.

When it comes to playing, users prefer to play with the computer (58 percent) and the console (54 percent), instead of the ‘smartphone’ or the tablet, since the latter are only chosen by 27 percent of they.

Taking into account the data recorded last year, PcComponentes has also come to the conclusion that 61 percent fans now choose to renew their ‘gaming’ equipment every two years, compared to 39 percent who admitted doing so in 2022. 27 percent, however, buy a new ‘gaming’ equipment annually, 16 percent more than in the previous year.

ONE HOUR AND TWO HOURS OF GAMEPLAY

The ‘III Radiography of Gaming in Spain’ also concludes that playing video games is one of the main options for users to spend their leisure time, since the 47 percent of the ‘gamers’ surveyed state that they dedicate between one and two hours a day to play.

26 percent, on the other hand, affirm that they do not play more than one hour a day, while 19 percent agree that they usually spend between two and three hours a day playing video games.

In any case, the ‘eCommerce’ platform insists that ‘gaming’ is seen by users as a form of leisure, since the 72 percent of respondents say they see it as “an entertainment” and the 40 percentas “an escape route to daily stress”.

On the contrary, there are also ‘gamers’ who consider video games as a professional vocation. So much so that the video game industry (39 percent of the cases), and the creation of content (34 percent) are the most desired professional opportunities by the Spanish players of Generation Z.

Likewise, entertaining millions of people with the content generated (34 percent) and being part of the development of a great video game (36 percent) are the main motivations for gamers of that generation.
