Disney World will close its Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel, just a year after opening it

() — Walt Disney World will close its Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel, one of its newest and most magnificent attractions, at the end of September, it announced Thursday.

The ultra-immersive ––and ultra-expensive–– experience of the Star Wars universe launched to much fanfare in spring 2022.

For a two-night stay, guests can expect to pay between $4,800 and $6,000 per person, depending on the number of individuals in a group.

The place has been promoted as much more than a hotel with sci-fi decor. The “trips” it offers include two nights’ lodging, but also all food, programming, entertainment, and special access to Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios theme park in Orlando, Florida.

When asked Disney why it had decided to close the attraction, a spokesperson responded that it was “a business decision” and did not provide further details. As for the fate of the building that houses the futuristic experience, Disney had “nothing to share at this time.”

A great experience on a small scale

In an official statement to the media, Disney said Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of its most creative projects ever and has been praised by guests and “acknowledged for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment.”

“This experience premium and store He gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms and as we prepare for his final journey, we will take what we have learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.

Disney said it would contact guests who already had reservations after September 30 “to discuss their options and modify their plans.”

New reservations between now and the final tour that begins on September 28 are on pause and will reopen on Friday, May 26, Disney explained.
