Mortal Kombat 1 is a reality; the reboot of the saga already has a date and first trailer

After some teasers and a lot of mystery, Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios have finally revealed their new game: Mortal Kombat 1. That’s right, the popular fighting franchise will have a reboot that will keep all its brutality and exciting combat.

The developer wants fans to have a new perspective on the universe of the franchise, so Mortal Kombat 1 promises a new fighting system, various game modes and impressive final attacks.

The reboot will feature iconic characters from the saga as fans have never seen them. This since it will be based on a new universe of the saga created by Liu Kang, a character who will be very important in the title.

When will it debut and where can it be played? Mortal Kombat 1?

Fans of the saga will only have to wait a few months to enjoy Mortal Kombat 1, as it will be available on September 19. NetherRealm Studios focused on development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, leaving PlayStation 4 and Xbox One behind, consoles that will not receive the game.

On the other hand, we know that the QLOC studio is in charge of the PC version of the game, which will come to Steam and the Epic Games Store. To the surprise of some, this title will be available for Nintendo Switch. The hybrid console port is being handled by Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive.

NetherRealm confirmed that the standard edition of the game will be sold physically and digitally for $69.99 USD. He also revealed that there will be a Beta that will be available in August for those who reserve the title. The pre-sale will start on May 19. We also know that the title will have cross-play and cross-progression, as well as netcode rollback support.

What characters and modes will it have Mortal Kombat 1?

Regarding the roster of characters, the study has only confirmed Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung and Johnny Cage for now. We also know that there will be Kameo Fighters, defined as a “unique roster of partner characters to help out during matches.” There will be more details about this feature soon.
