The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dimitro Kuleba, has informed this Wednesday of the meeting he held in Kiev with the special envoy of the Government of China, Liu Hui, to whom he has stressed that they will not accept any peace plan that goes through the loss of Ukrainian territories or freezing of the conflict.
The visit, which took place on May 16 and 17, is part of the agreement reached at the end of April by the presidents of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, and of China, Xi Jinping, to try to mediate by Beijing, which a part of the international community trusts that it can help end the war.
As the Foreign Affairs statement points out, Kuleba has informed Liu “in detail” about the conditions in which the Kiev plan is framed, which are none other than restoring peace in a stable and fair manner, based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Kuleba “has stressed that Ukraine does not accept any proposal that implies the loss of its territories,” said a statement, which also cited the “importance” it would mean for Ukraine if China participates in this peace plan devised by Kiev.
Both sides also discussed the long-term prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and China, as well as agreeing to increase dialogue on other important issues on the bilateral and international agenda.
