Demoralizing the enemy by attacking when its guard is down is one of the fundamental lessons of war, and Russia has delivered on it to the letter. As the Ukrainian duo Tvorchi was about to go on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, the Russian army shelled his hometown, Ternopil.
As reported by local authorities through Telegram, the missiles have hit warehouses of commercial companies and the headquarters of a religious organization, where two people have been injured.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a message on its Twitter account stating that the capital, Kiev, has also been attacked, and calling Russia a “terrorist state”.
Right when the #Eurovision final was alive, #Russia attacked the Kyiv & Ternopil regions. The last is the home region of @TvorchiBand who represented #Ukraine at the contest this year.#RussiaIsATerroristState pic.twitter.com/s6BE7MAzxG

The group Tvorchi, an electropop duo, sang from the stage the song ‘Heart of Steel’ (‘Steel Heart’), inspired by the defense of the Ukrainians in Mariupol. Andrii Hutsuliak and vocalist Jimoh Augustus Kehinde (aka Jeffery Kenny) have sung a track that included lines like “out of my way / ’cause I’ve got a heart of steel”, “despite the pain / I keep fighting. / The world is on fire and you act” and “sometimes you just know / when to lift your middle finger”.
As the 2022 winner, Ukraine should have hosted this year’s edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, but the invasion of Ukraine prevented itSo it was the British city of Liverpool that hosted the contest in which Loreen, from Sweden, won the final victory.
