Up to 24 people have died in a bus accident in Kapiringozi, Zambia, while another twelve have survived. All of them would be members of the New Apostolic Church, according to media in the African country.
Among the dead are 23 women and one man, to which must be added eight women and four wounded men, according to a police spokesman, Danny Mwale, quoted by the Mwebantu news portal. Among the injured survivors is the bus driver.
Preliminary data from the investigation suggests that the bus, a Mitsubishi Rosa model, collided with the back of a truck when it was carrying 35 passengers.
“The two vehicles were traveling in the same direction towards Chirundu. Church members were traveling to participate in a Manyika ceremony, in Chongwe district, towards Siavonga,” Mwale explained.
