The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC) of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITERD) support the activities of the RIOCC, and it is within this framework of cooperation that The virtual course “Opportunities and risks of the transition towards carbon neutral economies” was inaugurated, which will provide decision makers with relevant information for the development of public policies.
The main objective of the Ibero-American Network of Climate Change Offices (RIOCC) is to better understand the priorities, challenges and experiences of the Ibero-American countries in terms of climate change through a fluid and permanent dialogue; creating a technical space for the exchange of experiences and establishing the opportunity for the identification of synergies, strengths and priorities from a perspective of regional cooperation and support between countries.
This course is focused on the Ibero-American region and its general objective is to provide participants with the necessary tools to understand the economic implications of both the most recent information on climate change; as well as the current transformations in the markets, which provide an overview of the opportunities and risks involved in moving towards carbon-neutral economies and societies. It is expected that decision makers will be made aware of the impacts of climate change in the Ibero-American region and the opportunities that the adoption of public policies aimed at the transition towards carbon neutrality could generate.
