Samsung launches the first CXL 2.0 DRAM memory with a bandwidth of up to 35 GB/s



samsung keep working on the CXL-DRAM memory and just announce his new model with 128 GB CXL 2.0 advanced interface. This new report is planned for its mass production this same year and thus offer servers and data centers all its advantages included in this new version. This new faster memory has been the result of a work in collaboration with Intel and its Xeon server platform.

Samsung’s new CXL 2.0 DRAM now supports the 8-lane PCI Express 5.0 interface capable of providing a 35 GB/s bandwidth. This type of CXL memory in its new version 2.0 is compatible with memory poola technique used to link multiple blocks of memory and allocate it dynamically as needed. With this new technology, servers and data centers will be able to reduce hardware cost as well as operational costs maximizing the efficiency and availability of RAM memory.

Samsung plans to mass production of this CXL 2.0 DRAM memory for end of this 2023with an offer that will cover different abilities. CXL memory is capable of work alongside main RAM, expanding its bandwidth and capacity, to offer greater performance in servers and data centers. This will allow addressing new technologies that demand a large amount of memory such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
