Nasrallah warns of future reprisals if the Israeli government continues to attack the Gaza Strip
May 12. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The leader of the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah, accused the Israeli government this Friday of initiating the escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip with the aim of diverting attention from its internal problems within the coalition.
Nasrallah has explained, during a speech for the death in 2016 of party leader Mustafa Badreddine, that the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is “responsible” for the escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip by killing several members of the Brigades al Quds, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad.
In this sense, he has affirmed that the objective of the so-called ‘Operation Shield and Arrow’ against the group is to divert attention from the “fragmentation” in the government coalition of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and improve “his popular status ” after the protests in Israel over the controversial judicial reform.
“I must emphasize it: when duty forces us to consider specific scenarios, we will not hesitate to take action, God willing,” he said in a speech, according to the Lebanese television channel Al Manar, linked to Hezbollah.
In this sense, he has stated that they are in “constant” contact with the Gaza Strip. “We are closely following the situation and its evolution. In addition, we offer, within certain limits, feasible assistance,” she added.
The Israel Defense Forces have resumed attacks on the Strip after a night of relative calm, which has also been followed by a new round of missile launches into Israeli territory by Palestinian militants.
