More than 1,000 people have been rescued from a specialized human trafficking group during a major operation in the northern Philippine city of Mabalacat.
The operation took place around 7:45 p.m. on Friday, local time, in the Clark Sun Valley Hub residential complex and agents from the Police and the Immigration Office have participated in it.
Security forces have rescued a total of 1,090 people: 389 are from Vietnam; 307 from China; 171 from the Philippines; 143 from Indonesia; 40 from Nepal; 25 from Malaysia; seven from Burma; five from Thailand; two from Taiwan and one victim from Hong Kong.
“According to the investigation, the rescued victims were forced to work for a fraudulent cybernetic industry, victimizing their fellow citizens,” said the Police in a statement collected by the national newspaper ‘Enquirer’, in these condominiums used by mafias specialized in scams telephone, computer and other related crimes.
It is unknown how many people have been arrested in this unprecedented operation due to the scale of the people rescued.
