Jeff Bezos’ new superyacht will sail escorted by this 75 million dollar “yacht” (with heliport included)

Jeff Bezos can already enjoy his latest eccentricity. We are talking about the Koru, the sailing superyacht 500 million dollars which ended up embroiled in incessant controversy last year. You may remember that the ship’s manufacturer, Oceanco, wanted Rotterdam to dismantle a historic bridge so that their creation destined for the billionaire could leave the shipyard and meet the sea.

That problem was solved in an apparently very logical way: Oceanco mounted the masts of the superyacht downstream of the Rotterdam bridge, so it was not necessary to touch any historical structure. The truth is that the brand new boat will soon have an adventure partner. According to SuperYachtFan, Bezos has purchased a $75 million shadow yacht that does not go unnoticed.

Bezos’ superyacht won’t sail alone

Koru is a huge 127 meter long yacht equipped with three 120 meter masts each. This makes it the second sailing vessel largest in the world, behind only Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko’s Sailing Yacht A (now seized by Italian authorities). Despite its enormous dimensions, it is not surprising that this type of ship travels accompanied by smaller ones.

In this case, Koru will have the support of Abeona, a luxury vessel that is more than a complement to the main yacht, it is an authentic “little yacht” full of luxuries and even bigger than some other main boats. We are talking about a 75 meter long structure built at the shipyard in Vlissingen, also in the Netherlands. SuperYacht Times account that the exterior design has been in charge of the specialized company Damen Yachting.

Abeona boasts a steel hull and an aluminum structure. Its MTU Friedrichshafen propulsion system allows it to reach a maximum speed of 18 knots. At the level of characteristics, the support ship it has a helipad (item that the Koru lacks) and enough space to transport and deploy auxiliary boats, jet skis, diving equipment and even mini-submarines.

This boat, in addition to being the epicenter of a lot of activities, is a kind of storage for items that are not transported on Koru. Although, in essence, she is a companion ship, she can carry up to 40 people. As we say, this has cost Bezos about 75 million dollars. It is a lot of money, yes, but not too significant if we take into account that his assets go up to the 128,000 million dollars.
