The president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, has indicated this Thursday from Syria that the “collapse” of Israel “is very close” and has advocated for the “unity” of the “resistance forces” to achieve “accelerate the defeat of the Zionist regime “.

“We believe that the collapse of the Zionist regime, whose effects are visible, is very close,” he argued during a meeting in Damascus attended by senior officials from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Islamic Jihad. “Today, more than ever, the unity and cohesion of the resistance forces, the region and the Islamic world is necessary to accelerate the defeat of the Zionist regime, the liberation of Jerusalem and the sovereignty of the Palestinians over their destiny,” he said. ,

Thus, Raisi has pointed out that “resistance is the only way to confront Israel” and has stressed that “the issue of Palestine and the liberation of Jerusalem is the most important issue in the Islamic world and should not be forgotten”, according to a transcript of their statements provided by their office through their website.

“Iran always follows the issue of Palestine as a priority in its foreign policy and we believe that all issues in the Islamic world are defined around this issue,” he explained, before denouncing “a combined war” by the ” enemies” to oppress the Palestinians.

Finally, he has defended that “Muslims must use all their capacities to materialize the violated rights of the Palestinians and the liberation of the holy Jerusalem” and has said that “if Westerners claim to believe in democracy, they must accept the vote of the Palestinian people and accept the results.

Raisi began a two-day visit to Syria on Wednesday, the first trip by an Iranian president to the Arab country since the 2011 outbreak of war. Within the framework of it, both countries have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote “long-term” bilateral cooperation in different sectors.

For its part, the United States government has stressed that the strengthening of diplomatic relations between Iran and Syria “should be a matter of great concern” for the international community and has maintained that “they are two regimes that have participated in malicious and destabilizing activities , not only in neighboring countries, but in the region in general”.

Iran has been one of the main international supports for Al Assad, who has received important diplomatic support in recent months due to the decision of several Arab countries to resume their relations with Damascus, including Saudi Arabia, which normalized its relations with Tehran in March. .
