China has warned this Thursday that NATO’s “continuous incursion” into East Asia-Pacific and its “interference” in internal affairs will end up “inevitably” bringing peace and stability out of the region, after it has revealed the possible opening of an office of the Alliance in Japan.
“Asia is an anchor for peace and stability and a promising land for cooperation and development, not a battlefield for geopolitical competition,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said.
“NATO’s continued eastward incursion into the Asia-Pacific and interference in regional affairs will inevitably undermine regional peace and stability and fuel confrontation,” Mao said of Japan’s possible opening next year of a NATO liaison office.
In this sense, the Foreign Affairs spokesperson has asked the rest of the countries in the region to pay special vigilance to these destabilizing movements.
In another order of things, and when asked about the attempted assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin, after a drone was intercepted on Wednesday when it was flying over the Kremlin, Mao once again insisted that China’s position in this conflict is already well known and has once again asked the parties to avoid taking actions that “could further aggravate the situation”.
