The Financial Superintendent, Jorge Castaño, resigned

The Financial Superintendent, Jorge Castaño submitted his resignation from the position he had been holding for nearly seven years.

César Ferrari, economic adviser to President Gustavo Petro, born in Peru but with Colombian and Italian nationality, could arrive in the position.

In September of last year, one month after the inauguration of Gustavo Petro, the then Minister of Finance, José Antonio Ocampo, ratified him in the position and highlighted his specialized career.

The official had been serving in the position since 2017, from the Government of Juan Manuel Santos, and had also been ratified four years ago by former President Iván Duque to continue leading the entity.

Castaño is a lawyer, graduated from the Externado de Colombia University, and has a Specialization in Financial and Stock Market Law from the same university and a European Master in Economic Development from the Carlos III University of Madrid.

Within his career, it is worth noting that he has served as director of the Financial Institutions Guarantee Fund (Fogafin), he has also been linked to the Superfinanciera since 2005, where he held positions as Delegate Superintendent for Securities Intermediaries and director of Investigation and Development of the Financial Superintendency of Colombia.
