In March the unemployment rate decreases in Mexico

The underemployed people, that is, those who said they had the need and availability to work more hours, were four million -6.8% of the employed population-, a reduction of 742,000 people, Inegi explained in a statement.

The informality rate was 55% (32.5 million people) in March, 0.8 percentage points less than in the same month of 2022.

By sector, services employed 25.6 million people in March (43.4%), trade 11.5 million (19.4%), manufacturing industry 9.9 million (16.8%); while 6.5 million employees (11%) worked in agricultural activities, 4.8 million more (8.1%) in construction and 433,000 (0.7%) people worked in mining, electricity, water and gas supply, detailed the ENOE.

40.6 million employed people worked as subordinated and paid workers, 13.1 million did so independently or on their own without hiring employees; 3.1 million were employers, 2.2 million worked in the family plot business.
