Lancia is the latest car manufacturer to launch electric bicycles (and at a fairly good price)

The electric bikes They keep gaining fans. Also among car manufacturers. About a year ago we explained why Porsche had launched the sale of this type of vehicle. Although it has been one of the firms that has attracted the most attention, it has not been the only one, far from it.

Two months ago, Audi it also presented its new electric bicycles. It is not the first time they have made their foray into this world. For the presentation of the Audi e-tron, the Germans put up for sale 100 units of an electric bicycle for more than 15,000 euros. It is not a price that escapes the market. Other manufacturers like Maserati either Lamborghini They have exceeded tens of thousands of euros with their bicycles.

What it is about, after all, is to expand the brand image with a new product, to maintain the essence of the firm with an electric bicycle. Obviously, we do not imagine that Lamborghini or Maserati bring affordable bikes to the market. Audi, as a signature premiumhas also opted for high prices for its new products, exceeding 9,000 euros.

Lancia has had the same idea: to launch products on the market that maintain its brand image. For this reason, its electric bicycles are defined on two pillars: they are urban and have an affordable price.

Lancia bets on the affordable electric bicycle

A few months ago, Lancia presented four electric bikes. All of them stood out for their urban, casual, practical and, above all, affordable character.

Among the models offered, the Platum Lancia Ypsilon Brio opens the range. Is a folding electric bike It has a 250 W electric motor and a 281 Wh battery that can assist pedaling up to 25 km/h and, depending on the brand, up to a maximum of 60 kilometers. Its price is 1,049 euros.

Above this, two other models are offered as purely urban and touring bikes. These are the Lancia Ypsilon Incanto and Lancia Estro. Both have a 250 W motor and a 374 Wh capacity battery, increasing electrical assistance up to a maximum of 70 kilometers. The price in this case is 1,249 euros.

Lastly, the Platum Lancia Genius It is a slightly more capable bike, designed for trekking. That is to say, a type of bicycle that can be used in the urban environment but that will not suffer if we take it out on simple tracks or have a lot of park and curbs on our daily journeys.

This last electric bicycle is the least affordable option, but its price of 1,499 euros is still interesting if we take into account that we are talking about an electric bicycle. The mechanical capacities are the same as the previous models, with a 250 W motor and a 374 Wh capacity battery for a maximum of 70 kilometers of assistance.

However, what is striking is that the sales of these bikes have already started. The Platum Lancia Genio has been seen on Amazon at a demolition price of just 835 euros. At the moment, it has returned to its original price but it already tells us that Lancia and Amazon can wreak havoc.

To take a broader global picture, Lidl’s electric mountain bike hasn’t been that cheap (although it has been just under 1,000 euros). Decathlon has not managed to lower its bicycles so much either, neither in the folding options nor in the urban ones.
