Scientists use the PlayStation 5 controller, DualSense, to make real babies

Although several companies will not go to gamescom 2022, Ubisoft confirms attendance

The PlayStation 5 controller, DualSense, is without a doubt the best controller of the current generation of consoles. Both users and developers have spoken highly of it and its benefits when playing. To these accolades one more has just been added, since it became the first control used to give life to humans.

The feat was carried out at New York clinic New Hope Fertility Center, which received a machine directly from Spain-based start-up company Overture Life.

The machine, roughly speaking, consists of 1 robot, 1 microscope, 1 mechanized needle, 1 small petri dish and 1 laptop. The most interesting thing is that to control the robotic needle, the PlayStation 5 controller, the DualSense, was used, although surely due to the delicate nature of the in vitro fertilization process, the adaptive triggers, vibration, and other features were suppressed.

What was the DualSense used for in vitro fertilization?

Surely to some this may seem strange, but honestly it is not. Like any other controller, the DualSense can not only be useful when gaming (for which it was invented), but also when carrying out other tasks.

In this case, Overture wants to make the IVF process more automated, less expensive, and more frequent. Let us remember that more than half of the people who need assistance to have a child do not have the necessary resources to acquire fertility medicines or the process in general.

In case you missed it: artificial intelligence was unable to recreate the DualSense.

The best way to demonstrate it was this, in which the mechanical engineering student involved in the project (and who did not have in-depth knowledge of embryology) carried out the fertilization by controlling it through DualSense.

Fertilization was the first to be carried out with the intervention of a robot – and the DualSense. The robot was later used to fertilize more embryos, 2 of which today are 2 baby girls who hold the title of the first people to be born from robotic fertilization.
