For several months now, there has been a controversy that a large number of criminals were using AirTags to locate people without their knowledge. They put these devices in bags, pockets, cars, packages or anywhere in order to know where the victims were at all times.

In this way, they could easily know if you are away from home to be able to go steal or where you can go on a certain day to wait for you in a place to rob you.

A few months ago, Apple, aware of this problem, already made changes to the operation of AirTags. The method is as follows: the iPhone detects an AirTag that is not yours and issues an alert so you can locate it. Yes indeed, It has not been enough, since there are still similar cases.

And precisely because of this Apple and Google have launched this initiative to create an industry standard that deals with unwanted tracking with bluetooth trackers like AirTags.

The idea is that this type of device is compatible with unauthorized tracking detection and alerts on both iOS and Android.

The specification created by both technologies, according to 9to5Mac, has been submitted via Internet-Draft through the Internet Engineering Task Force. With this technology, bluetooth tracking devices will be allowed to be compatible with the unauthorized detection of tracking and the sending of alerts from Android and iOS.

Regarding the start-up, the update will arrive at the end of 2023 to AirTags and will soon appear in locations of other brands like Tile’s or Samsung’s or any future devices that offer this same feature.
