Belarus strengthens its anti-espionage policy in an attempt to increase its security

May 2. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Government of Belarus has reported on Tuesday that it has implemented a series of measures to reinforce its anti-espionage policy in an attempt to increase the security of the country in the midst of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The head of the Belarusian State Security Committee, Iván Tertel, has indicated that the measure responds to orders from the president, Alexander Lukashenko, who seeks to “protect the country from what happens nearby.”

Thus, Tertel has risked a significant increase in tension along the country’s borders due to hostilities in Ukraine and attempts by “third countries to destabilize the situation in Belarus”, according to information from the BelTA news agency. .

This same Tuesday, Lukashenko met with senior security and border protection officials to address the issue.
