The Islamic State affiliate in Iraq has executed an Iraqi Army soldier after kidnapping him on the outskirts of Erbil, in the Kurdistan region.
The body was found this Saturday by the Police near the north of the country’s capital, Baghdad, as published by the Albawaba portal.
Two people were kidnapped last Friday, the executed soldier and a fisherman, who was released by the jihadists.
Despite this incident, the international coalition against the Islamic State indicated last Tuesday that the activities of the jihadist group “have decreased dramatically” in Syria and Iraq so far this year, before specifying that the last month of Ramadan was “one of the most peaceful” to date.
