Qualcomm has announced Snapdragon Game Super Resolution (GSR), a spatially aware scaling technique with which the company hopes to optimize mobile device performance during games and save power.

The company has explained that this feature is currently available for some users and that, although it is compatible with most GPUs, it offers the best performance on its own development platforms, that is, Snapdragon.
This tool offers benefits on all ‘smartphones’ and extended reality (XR) equipment and allows you to increase the resolution of the game while maintaining the visual quality of the graphics, increase frame rate and battery life, as well as boosting the title’s visual fidelity while maintaining frame rates.

Qualcomm has explained that Snapdragon GSR uses the fewest possible registers, texture samples, and arithmetic logic unit (ALU) instructions in the Adreno ‘hardware’, resulting in better utilization of the shader processor.
Likewise, he has stressed that the main video game studios already include Snapdragon Game Super Resolution in their titles, such as Activision with Call of Duty: Warzone for mobiles, Return to Empire by Tencent or Justice Mobile, developed by NetEase.
