Erdogan, who has participated in a virtual format from Ankara, has specified that more than 300 Turkish engineers have been trained in Russia to work at the plant, as well as in the still flourishing nuclear industry in Turkey, TASS has collected.

The general director of the Russian energy company Rosatom, Alexei Lijachev, delivered this Thursday to the Turkish Ministry of Energy an official document certifying the status of a nuclear facility at Akkuyu, in the Turkish province of Mersin.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a videoconference conversation in which he congratulated his Turkish counterpart on his efforts to bring forward the country’s first nuclear power plant.
